Tempranillo
All the Tempranillo fruit is from our Russell Road vineyard which lies in the heart of the Frankland River wine growing district. This is a highly regarded, very reliable region especially for most reds. Being further inland from Mt Barker it has warmer days with more sunshine hours which are then balanced by late, cooling sea breezes and quite cool overnight temperatures, resulting in well coloured and well flavoured fruit.
COLOUR
A lovely deep crimsony red.
AROMA
Has generous aromas of dark berry fruits with some dark plum and rhubarb characters. This fruitiness is tempered by the dusty oak characters picked up during its maturation period.
PALATE
This is a medium bodied wine with loads of rich, red fruit flavours. Quite tightly structured, it has dark cherry, cranberry and pomegranate characters. As is typical of Frankland Tempranillo, it has good structure; it’s nicely drying with the slightly dusty tannins balancing the fruit flavours and, together with the light acidity, all combine to give the wine its great length of flavour on the palate. Vibrant and youthful, it can be enjoyed now with a well flavoured meal or cellar for a couple more years for further complexity.
