Tempranillo

For this vintage we sourced a parcel of Tempranillo from Chittering in the Perth Hills to add to the more robust portion from our Russell Road vineyard, Frankland River. Tempranillo thrives in these warm, inland and quite arid climates and makes for a well flavoured wine, with great colour and structure.
COLOUR
A terrific colour; a very youthful, deep crimson-purple red.
AROMA
Has a lovely nose with intense aromas of spicy plums, black cherries and super dark chocolate (think fruit & nut chocolate with 80% cocoa).
PALATE
This is a well flavoured, well structured wine. It has loads of rich, dark berry fruit flavours along with dusty plum & tamarillo fruit characters. It has a great tannin structure upfront with the quite chewy, dusty and lightly drying tannins giving the wine its great framework. With further bottle age this wine will become more integrated though its dusty, savoury characters are very much the hallmark of this variety. Very much a food wine, serve with a well flavoured meal like a mushroom ragu or cellar for a couple more years for further complexity.
