All grown in Porongurup, this fruit was carefully harvested in late February, the earliest vintage on record. Only the free run juice was used (extraction of less than 500L/tonne) and fermenting at cool temperatures of 12 - 14 C has ensured we retained all its delicate fruit characters. The higher acids this season meant we needed 5g/L residual sweetness to balance the wine and, with no fining required, this wine is vegan.
Light and bright with a very pale lemon colour.
Typical of Porongurup Riesling, it is nicely perfumed with fresh, citrussy aromas of lime zest and sweet, baked lime characters with just a hint of tropical fruit.
This is a delicate and crisp dry white that is particularly well weighted and mouthfilling. It has delicious, fresh, citrussy flavours –eg a hint of baked lime cheesecake and the good depth of flavour and natural acidity provide the excellent persistence and length of flavour.
An excellent wine to enjoy now as an aperitif or with the freshest of seafood, it should continue to age well for many years.
