Our Mt Barker Riesling is all from our favourite block 6 on the Langton vineyard, just a few hundred metres from the winery. It was back to text book conditions for the ’21 vintage with harvest in early March and as usual, we picked at night to take advantage of our cool overnight temperatures. Only the free run juice was used and fermented at cool temperatures to preserve the delicate fruit characters.
Bright and clear with a light gold tinge.
Beautifully aromatic, our 2021 vintage is again quite floral on the nose with hints of honeysuckle, jasmine & citrus blossom along with the distinctive limey characters so typical of cool climate Riesling.
This is a well flavoured dry Riesling that is still fine and delicate. It has good depth of fresh, citrussy fruit flavours and loads of sweet, lemon sherbet characters. It’s well balanced with excellent length of flavour. The delicious, tangy acidity has a mouth-watering characteristic and contributes to its beautifully clean, crisp long finish.
Delicious now, this would make a terrific aperitif or cellar for a few years for some gorgeous bottle age complexity, up to ~8 years.
