Blonde Crow Rizzy Rascal
With a growing interest in skin contact wines, particularly in the minimal intervention winemaking scene, we thought a skin contact Riesling blend would be a great addition to the Blonde Crow offering.
Rizzy Rascal is comprised of a block of Riesling and a field blend of Pinot Gris & Chardonnay to create a lightly coloured peachy, apricot coloured wine.
The wine is generously aromatic with lifted floral notes of orange marmalade and cumquat, with a hint of musk stick.
The process of skin contact and fermenting on skins builds the structure you typically see with red wines, while retaining the freshness and lightness of a white wine. The Riesling provides the citrussy flavours, while the Pinot Gris & Chardonnay contribute to the mid palate weight and texture. Both batches underwent wild fermentation and were pressed gently to older oak. The result
is a delicious and quirky wine, showcasing the strengths of all three varieties.
