Sourced from our best Russell Road vineyard in Frankland, the 2020 vintage was fast and furious! The growing season was warm and dry with above average temperatures November through to January. Vintage started ~12 days earlier than average with the reds ripening soon after the whites due to the constant fine weather. Traditional winemaking including regular pump-overs during fermentation has ensured maximum colour and flavour extraction as the finished wine attests to. Maturation for 17 months in French oak followed by 12 months in bottle has developed the flavours and integrated its tannin structure.
A very deep and dark purple.
Has beautiful, sweet berry fruit aromas of juicy mulberries with a subtle, fragrant hint of fresh violets adding complexity
This is a medium bodied wine with a good density of vibrant and fresh berry fruit flavours balanced by its natural acidity and moderate tannin structure. It has a core of rich, dense, dark berry fruits with some dusty, gently drying tannins balancing the fruit flavours and contributing to its good length of flavour. With these generous fruit flavours this Malbec can be enjoyed now with any meal, but it also has the structure to handle a couple more years in the bottle.
