‘Hanna's Hill’ Cabernet Malbec

Our ‘Hanna’s Hill' shows the best of Frankland River in this marvellous blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Malbec. Not only co-fermented, the parcels of fruit are also picked together so there’s integration of the two varieties from the beginning. Once fermenting in the winery, there are frequent pump-overs to ensure maximum colour & flavour extraction from the skins. After pressing out, the wine was put to barrel in a mixture of new and older French oak for 20 months maturation before blending and bottling.
COLOUR
A very dense, dark crimson.
AROMA
Has rich, dark berry fruit aromas (think Fruits of the Forest) with dark plum fruits and a hint of violet and sweet vanilla spice aromatics from the oak adding complexity.
PALATE
This is a well flavoured and well structured wine with rich, blackberry and 'brambly’ fruit flavours. The Malbec component (18%) contributes juicy and vibrant mulberry fruit characters which complement the more structured Cabernet Sauvignon component. All are beautifully balanced by the well-integrated oak and the drying, slightly dusty tannins. The depth of vibrant fruit means it can be enjoyed now with a well flavoured meal while also having the structure to reward further cellaring.
CELLARING POTENTIAL
Beautiful drinking now and over the next 6 years or so.
