The Zeepaard Range

2003 Zeepaard Shiraz Cabernet

Throughout the harvesting, even temperatures during the day and a couple of two- week periods with no rainfall made the harvest one of the easiest on record.  Most of the whites were harvested prior to the reds. Reds matured evenly developing great intensity of flavour and distinctly varietal characteristics of the region. Optimum ripeness levels were achieved in all varieties resulting in complex and well-structured fruit characters.

Colour:
Deep ruby red.

Aroma:
Ripe raspberries with spice and smoky oak.

Palate:
A delicate wine with a with fine tannins. The wine has ripe berry flavours and also hints of spiciness from the shiraz. The subtle oak balances perfectly with the fruit and the finish is dry and persistent.

Cellar Potential:
Designed for immediate consumption, however will reward the patient connoisseur with cellaring of approximately 3 to 5 years.
