Imogen Casey - Assistant Winemaker

Meet Imogen Casey, our new Assistant Winemaker to Dave Cleary, who recently joined the West Cape Howe team. Imogen brings a wealth of local knowledge that belies her age - only 24 years old, Imogen graduated from Curtin University in 2002 with a Bachelor of Science in Viticulture & Oenology while completing her first vintage at Houghton’s in the Swan Valley. In 2003, Imogen continued her stint with Houghton’s Nannup facility as a cellar hand, before packing the bags and setting off to Napa completing a vintage at the Sutter Home Winery the same year.

Imogen Casey - Assistant WinemakerThe next year, she returned to complete a vintage at Plantagenet to the end of 2005 as Assistant Winemaker, before again heading OS to France to work vintage at Chateau Poupille in Cotes de Castillon, Bordeaux. Imogen headed south of the equator in 2006 and wound up in McLaren Vale at Hardy’s Tintara Winery and skipping over to NZ to see what all the fuss is about.

And now, she’s with the ‘Cape' and enjoying the pace and lifestyle of the region. Imogen plays in the Albany netball team (she’s over 6 ‘ tall, so this can only make sense), touch rugby and loves the beach. She’s also into her wines (which you would expect) and is currently exploring Red and White Burgundy - Olivier LaFlaive 2002's and 2005's are grabbing her attention …
