2005 Cabernet Merlot

The ’05 season was warm and remarkably fine for the first half ….. we were able to harvest the fruit at optimal ripeness – and importantly, before the 10” rain experienced at the end of March /early April! Luckily the majority of the Cabernet and Merlot fruit had been harvested prior to the rain and was unaffected.

Colour:
Deep magenta red with a medium purple hue.

Aroma:
A great mix of licorice and ripe berries.

Palate:
The licorice follows through onto the palate and integrates with deep rich berry fruits. Soft chewy tannins fill the mid palate and hints of old gold chocolate appear with some smokey oak. An excellent savoury finish rounds off this wine.
